The Thaw

Well, we continue to thaw out. Here are pics of the river today. All the white is river, but only some has thawed. It was completely covered a few weekends ago. During the fall it just had floating icebergs on it before it all froze. It has certainly been something interesting to watch. You can see tracks of snowmobiles in the first pic. And today we saw an airboat on the ice. I think it had been in the water as well.

chad would not have approved of the elephant rides anyway, but if you can get them on a donkey, he'll use those photos...someday! :)

I just found your blog from Cathy's blog. We are Texans getting ready to move to Canada also. St John's to be exact. Any advice would be great.

Staci, my husband is right now in St. John, Newfoundland, which I think may be different from where you are going. My biggest piece of advice go to Land's End.com clearance or Sears.ca outlet this spring or summer and get snowsuits on clearance, along with long sleeved shirts. We didn't have any of that stuff and everything is so expensive. Getting it on clearance is a real help. I've already done some shopping at Land's End this year, but the very good prices won't be for a while.
