The Melt down

It looks like the melt has finally started. Of course this in no way means the snow is over for good, but we can hope.

This is across the street. Their houses face north so they don't get much sun light in the front. Their snow hasn't really started melting. Look how tall it is still.

This is our house, and melting is definitely underway.

I still am shocked to see how it melts. I expected snow would just melt down, but actually seems to pull back faster than down. Its very strange to watch. Maybe I'll try to get a picture this afternoon to show the progression.
And if the snow is leaving, it looks like time to get ready for outdoor fun! Things Mason has been asking to do: go to the beach, go camping, put the tent outside. Looks like he's a Texas boy after all.
Today is the first day of spring break! And two of my children that are up every day at 7 am no matter what are actually still sleeping. The oldest is up, but not completely awake. I should be halfway done with the grocery shopping by now!

More snow

Its snowing again. But look at how big the snowflakes are. It started out little bity balls, and turned into these giant snow flakes. With snow this big it doesn't have to snow long to amount to much. Last year things had pretty much melted by now, but I guess since it didn't snow until December this year we are going to get to keep it long into spring time. At least this way Kennedy and Cooper will get to play in the snow. They are coming over Easter weekend, and it would have to get pretty warm to melt all of this snow by then. And even if it does we are taking a short trip to the mountains, and I know they will have snow.
The kids start spring break this afternoon. We are going to spend time doing spring cleaning, but hopefully we will find some fun things to fit in as well.

Its, Spring, really, it is......

My calendar and the news said so. But this is what it looks like today.
There is actual snow falling in these pics, but you can't see it. And its going to fall all day long. If I were at home I could be enjoying outdoor birthday parties, and bluebonnets (the official state flower of Texas.)
But we managed to have fun in this spring like weather anyway. We took the boys snow boarding yesterday. They boarded for a while and we had hot chocolate with Mason in the lodge. Then in the evening we left all the kids at home and went out. We went to a cajun restaurant called the Louissiana Purchase. It was very yummy, and we had some great company. We even closed the place down at 10 pm (on a Saturday.) Afterwards we went to one of the casinos. I basically just put my money into the machines, but Heather came away a winner. She took home all the money the rest of us put in. When we got home after midnight Mason was still awake. The kids couldn't get him to bed. Had he slept late this would have been fine, but of course he was up at 7:30 anyway.
And today we are stuck in the house watching it snow!

Spring time?

I just thought everyone should know that it is -30 F this morning. And of course I have somewhere to go and I need gas. Gas stations should really start advertising....."Get you gas today because tomorrow you could lose a finger or toe"

Snow Day

Here are some pics from our day, just for those of you enjoying a beautiful spring day. It snowed all morning, but was relatively warm so we headed out for some sledding. Turns out its not that easy in snow that deep. But everyone managed to have fun anyway. Mason has sure been missing the playground, and a little snow didn't bother him any.
